GovLink Conference 2008 Highlights Contracting Opportunities for
Veteran-Owned Businesses

Veteran-Owned businesses were the
focus of The Federal Technology Center’s
(The FTC) GovLink Conference 2008 held on
October 14-15, 2008. Distinguished guests at the conference included Congressman Dan Lungren, 3rd Congressional District, who conveyed his support for veterans and for veteran-owned small businesses and summarized the latest initiatives active in Congress; California Secretary of Veteran Affairs, Thomas Johnson, who represented Governor Schwarzenegger, and set the tone for the conference; and Jim Dininger, Deputy Director, Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA), who described DMEA’s role in insuring an adequate supply of reliable microelectronic devices for DoD weapon systems.

Regional Transit Announces Good News for Small Business

The fifth annual How to Do Business with Regional Transit (RT) event was held on July 30, 2008 in RT’s auditorium. The capacity crowd of small businesses
had the opportunity to learn details of imminent RT projects, contact information for the responsible personnel at RT, and hear about RT’s proposed small business program. The event was co-hosted by RT and The Federal Technology Center (The FTC).

4th Annual RT Conference Offers Valuable Opportunities

“Great networking opportunity;” “Great opportunity to learn about future projects;” “Insight into doing business with RT;” and “valuable contacts” were a few of the many positive comments offered by attendees at the 4th Annual Primes & Subcontractors Conference and Golden Spike Awards Event hosted by Sacramento Regional Transit District (RT) and The Federal Technology Center on January 17, 2008. The attendees represented architect and engineering, professional services, construction, environmental, information technology, and equipment and material suppliers.
