PRE-CONFERENCE TOUR OF HIGH-TECH MICROELECTRONICS LABORATORY:
October 14, 2008 - 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
 |
• Tour the Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA) laboratory (Limited to the first 40 registrants.
U.S. citizenship is required. The tour begins at the Lions Gate Hotel Garden Pavilion and transportation is not provided.)
Description: Learn first-hand about DMEA, a one-of-a-kind national high-tech laboratory that supports Department of Defense weapon systems. During the tour of DMEA, attendees will visit the Advanced Reconfigurable Manufacturing for Semiconductors (ARMS) facility, a true flexible foundry, conceived and designed by DMEA to supply requirements for small quantities of the widest range of microelectronic devices. The foundry can be “flexed” on demand to handle multiple devices on not just one, but multiple manufacturing processes. Attendees will also see DMEA's sophisticated Integrated Circuit Testing Facility, where components are characterized, reverse engineered and tested, and the Gamma Irradiation Testing Facility where components designed to operate in nuclear and space radiation environments are tested. DMEA's Gamma Irradiation Testing Facility has the highest Curie content and largest exposure tunnel of any self-shielded irradiator in the world. For more information, see DMEA's website: www.dmea.osd.mil |
